Job Role: Software Engineering Manager – London Startup – Excellent Progression
Job Description
Ready to go from Principal Engineer to future Head of Engineering?
Or finally earn the title you’ve already been doing without the credit?
If you’re passionate about AI tooling and know how to push it further — this is for you.
Techmunity is exclusively hiring for a Software Engineering Manager at a startup building the operating system for one of the world’s largest, most operationally complex sectors.
With significant customer traction and a high-performing team already in place, they’re creating tools that bring AI-powered precision and speed to global brands.
Whether you’re already a Software Engineering Manager — or a Staff/Principal Engineer ready to take the next step — this is a rare chance to fast-track into formal leadership with equity and ownership from day one.
You’ll be leading a team of 5 engineers — all of whom use Cursor, Copilot, and other AI-native tools every day. Now they want to go deeper — and they need someone who can drive that technically and culturally.
As Software Engineering Manager, you’ll:
- Mentor engineers, improve processes, and scale systems
- Stay hands-on while the team is lean
- Champion AI adoption and level up how they use LLM tooling
- Help shape product, culture, and technical strategy directly with the founders
You should apply if you:
- Have led teams as an EM or Principal/Staff Engineer
- Write production-grade code with React, Node.js, Next.js, and Postgres
- Are fluent with AI-native dev tools like Cursor or Copilot
- Thrive in high-ownership, high-impact environments
- Want to work on-site in Holborn (London), 5 days/week
Interview process:
- Intro call (CEO + Chief of Staff)
- Take-home task
- On-site interview with your future team
For this Software Engineering Manager role, the package is up to £100,000 + meaningful equity
This is a rare opportunity to shape a team, own the roadmap, and get in early on what could be a career-defining exit.
